Georgie is probably the most relatable heroine of a romance that I’ve ever read. I love how real and messy she is as she’s trying to figure out her life.

Reeling from unexpected changes in her professional life, Georgie returns to her hometown and begins a quest to find her purpose—all while finding herself unexpected roommates with the brother of her childhood crush.

This was the April pick for my book club and it felt like it took me FOREVER to get to, but I’m glad I finally did. It took me the first hundred pages or so of the book to fully connect with the characters, but by the end I was pretty fully hooked. I found myself sobbing over the last third, and really loved the ending, which I thought hit the EXACT right note. The overall message of the book was super sweet, and I enjoyed all of the characters, ESPECIALLY Levi, who made an absolutely wonderful MMC and is definitely going on my book boyfriend list!

Overall, I might call this one more “women’s fiction” (even though I don’t love that term) than straight romance, as it definitely focuses on Georgie’s personal journey as an individual in addition to her journey to find love. But there are plenty of steamy scenes that also put this one squarely in the romance crossover pile!

Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: character driven romance; small town romance; stories with a message

CW: Discussions of drug use; emotional abuse; pregnancy and brief mentions of medical content; discussion of death of a parent; brief mention of gun violence

I don't know how I'm feeling about this one. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't like it either.

Georgie finds herself back home and reevaluating her life. Having spent a life of people pleasing, she's ready to start figuring out her own wants and needs after rediscovering a 'friendfic' she wrote as a teenager. An old high school acquaintance, Levi, helps her along on her journey of self-discovery.

The concept of this book is wonderful. I had really high hopes. Unfortunately, it felt like a strange mishmash of genres. The main plot felt like it wanted to be literary, but it was not written in a literary style. The romance plot felt like it wanted to be a romcom, but it wasn't comedic. While I liked the Georgie/Levi pairing, I grew bored of them quickly. I also found some of their romance scenes far too graphic for my taste. Disappointing overall, but ultimately comes down to a matter of preference and wrong assumptions of what the book was going to be.

Another sweet one from Kate Clayborn. Less spicy than I remember her others, but I really enjoyed the trajectory of the lead characters. Special mention to Hank the dog.

Adored this book. Will need to marinate on a review, because I read this book in less than a day (would say one sitting, but I'm too easily distracted.)

But I do love the messiness that is an expensive Georgie, and this is also very much a Levi book.

Plus
Lark's name is dropped at the very end. Could this mean we are closer to a story for her? Am I currently thinking Lark and Evan for no reason at all? Yes, yes I am

I love a romance where the characters do not find all of life's answers in each other and instead do the actual work of figuring their crap out AND ALSO learning to love and fit together. Plus, a female main character who is outstanding at her job of smoothing out everyone else's chaotic messes but is not-so-secretly an unanchored, chaotic mess herself? Yes. Realness. PLUS, a grumpy, wounded, previous bad boy with emotional integrity and a heart as big as his rescue pittie's smile?! Swoon. Georgie and Levi — so good together and so good in their individual journeys. Beautiful portrayals of growth, connection, vulnerability. If I didn't require more snarky humor in my romances and if I was able to connect more with the hometown, high-school-hijinks device that guided the self-discovery, this would probably have been a 5-star read.

💕 Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn 💕

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you to @netgalley and Kensington Publishing for choosing me as an ARC reader.

I will start by saying I didn't have any dislikes about this book. I usually have at least one tiff with romance books, but Georgie, All Along was perfection. Georgie, All Along provides the reader with loveable characters, a longing for summer, and the most adorable fictional pup! 🐶

What I liked:
💕 Hometown, summer romance
💕 A loveable pitbull 🐶
💕 Amazing friendship (romance isn't the only relationship highlighted in this book)
💕 A relatable main character who is trying to find her place in the world

There will be a lot of (deserving) hype about this novel!

You will want to read this book if you're looking for loveable characters, romance, a bit of spice, and an overall heartwarming story.
