A unique, cool setting, that ended all its greatness with its final sentence. It made me scream 'what the hell?' when the end credits rolled instead of another chapter (derogatory).

This was a fun, easy read. A bit predictable and I'm not sure I like the ending, but still a decent read.

The Island is Natasha Preston's latest book. It is a YA thriller following six influencers as they accept an exclusive invitation to spend a weekend on a luxurious island amusement park / hotel before it even opens to public .

This was a very engaging read . I enjoyed it all the way through . I was slightly sad I guessed the twist ( well , one of them anyway. ) I also read a lot of thrillers/ mysteries though. I found the characters while not likable in aspects to be well presented . I could've used more of a character background on some of them. All together though , I definitely recommend . Rated it 4 stars .

My sister recommended this author, and it was my first time reading one of her books. The writing for the Island is very complex, but I think it fits the teen horror genre.

The story is interesting, and I gotta hand it to the author, I didn’t predict who the killer was.

That said, I wasn’t entirely convinced by the logistics of some of the plot points. At times the island seems large, but at others it’s small and you can see it all from the third floor of a building. The passage of time didn’t feel organic either.

Also, the final 3 pages were just a hot mess. I think she would have been fine without the final “twist”. It was too over the top and the buildup wasn’t there.

All in all, it was a fine book. I was pretty hooked and read it quickly. I don’t think I will be reading any of her other works though any time soon.
