Started fine, but shit the bed halfway through. The dialogue feels very awkward, like he's writing for a movie and not a novel.
“You know the Hudson River?”
“Yeah . . .”
“We’re about to be part of it.”
Wasn't a fan of the pregnancy B plot. And there were definitely way too many characters. When someone would die, my first thought was "who?".
And WHY are Diego's internal thoughts weirdly racist?
Maybe I'm not the right audience for this, maybe you've gotta be a middle-aged patriotic New Yorker to really like this book. Who knows?
