I adored this book! I really really enjoyed Harper. She was sweet, cool, very confident. She had her body upsets but she wasn't too much of a drama queen about it, pretty balanced. Dex was a total sweetheart and I loved how he was obsessed with each and every curve Harper had. Super fun light read!
Oh Dex, Dex, Dex. I have mixed emotions about Dex. He was so sweet when he wasn't being an jerk. I loved that he wanted to make Harper look good in front of her dick of a stepbrother but the way he treated her when she fell for him made me want to punch him in the nuts. Good thing he realized what an jerk he was being and that Harper was the best thing to ever happen to him. That ending made me want to cry! This is the second book in the Sydney Smoke Rugby series and I'm loving them! Harper was awesome and I'm glad she got Dex falling to his knees! I can't wait for book 3!

Quite frankly, I'm being generous with the two stars. If there is a single page in this book that doesn't mention the heroine's weight, either as her being ashamed of it or the hero fetishizing it, I couldn't find it. Bottom line, hero is a douchebag and I can't believe they ended up a couple. And the stupid cheesy auction at the end
I was excited to read an Australian romance with an Australian reader, but....
well, maybe I'll give it a go. Maybe.
Nah. I quit. It's supposed to be body positive with a "curvy" girl as h but the amount of time spent in the first 10% of a book talking about someone's body just turned me off of the book. Do people really obsess that much about how someone looks???
And while I appreciate the australian reader for a book set in australia (lookin' at you "it seemed like a good idea at the time"!), she was just too much.

Rating~ 3.5-3.75 stars
Dex is completely devoted to rugby, he sees everything including a relationship else as a distraction and something that he doesn’t want, not till he’s managed to achieve his goal. When he first sees Harper is extremely attracted to her but since he views women as distraction it wouldn’t have gone anywhere if not for Harper’s idiot brother
Harper is an artist, and she also does mural’s for hospitals. She was an excellent heroine, loving and kind. She tolerated her step-family for the sake of her twin brother and sister. I loved the scenes with her and her siblings.
I loved Harper, the woman has insecurities of course but she’s also kick ass and loving person. I really disliked her step-mother and brother, they were responsible for Harper’s insecurities, they constantly put her down.
Unlike the last book in the series which was slow burn this one had a lot of steam and right of the start as well.
I liked it this one a lot! I liked their relationship, they both were very different from each other but shared similar interest such as video games. I also liked that they were friends, of course they were together but they got to know and spend time with each other as friends. Their banter and their moments at the start of the book were a highlight of the book.
I was having a great time. However about 70% my enjoyment went slightly down with the way Dex acted, not only once but twice. He was such a huge arse. So while I was sympathetic towards him because of his history, it wasn’t enough for the way he behaved. I felt like he needed to grovel a hell more before Harper should have accepted him back, she deserved it. hence the whole ending felt extremely rushed to me because it made it seem like Dex hadn’t completely thought of everything through. It felt like a complete 180 without any prior notice.
Anyways it was still enjoyable and I’m looking forward to whoever is going to bring Linc down either Em or Valerie.
Overall it was enjoyable read with funny and sweet moments!

A great sick days read! Mostly fun and breezy contemporary, but with a bit of angst and a big grovel at the end. Fun to read a book with all the Aussie slang and try to "read" it in the accent in my head. Harper was very relatable with her family drama and body-image issues, but Dex was pretty good at convincing her that he really did find her attractive. I liked that they bonded over video games and Star Wars!

Artist Harper meets Dexter after one of his rugby matches. He is a serious athlete not interested in relationships though Harper is just his type. After hearing the way Harper's brother talks to her Dexter asks her out on a date and they hit it off. Can he learn to focus on both his career and his love life or will he choose one over another?

Reading this series out of order, having read 5 first and now #2. I was drawn to this one because of Dex's attraction to the a-typical 'beauty'. Thank you for writing this story and reinforcing that beauty doesn't mean stick thin.
