I didn't especially like Jasmine, she was kind of a jerk, and the rest of the characters didn't have a lot of depth.  I did love the vibe though, it felt familiar, being in an area that has a strong Indian community. I like being able to get romcoms that have some cultural diversity.

there is a thin line between snarky banter and just being rude and mean and i think this one really falls on the wrong side for me a lot of that time.

This was a cute quick love story with a lot of cultural tidbits that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the premise of being on a cruise ship and the almost forced proximity it created between the two main characters. I felt the female mc, Jasmine, was refreshing with very real and raw thoughts and concerns. Her internal journey as well as her family journey in this story felt very relatable.

Thank you Berkley for the free copy!

Its nice to see brown characters so casually brown. The resolution happened a bit too easily with all the characters but overall was cute and no major flaws.

“…but I was a millennial who grew up on Britney Spears and Blink-182, so I didn’t embarrass myself.”

This was cute!

I didn’t realize that this was connected to ‘A Holly Jolly Diwali’, which I read in 2021, so that was a cool discovery!

I’ve always been a sucker for these kind of romances and I love learning about the different cultures and practices, it’s super interesting to me. I loved that this took place on a cruise (how fun!) and that Jasmine was thirty-three but used all the best millennial references! It made her so relatable to me.

Jake was so kind and sweet. He was so patient with Jasmine and I think that’s what makes his character so admirable. Their relationship was so cute and I enjoyed reading about it! It didn’t feel forced, it felt like it happened very naturally, which is another thing that I appreciate in some of these romances. And to think I stumbled across this book accidentally..

If you’re looking for a short book that is quick, and a great palate cleanser, this is the one for you!
