I really read this book at the perfect time for myself. The ending was incredibly emotional for me because of some experiences I have had. I have discovered the microgenre of books about books/reading and it's really been treating me well. (I recently read the reading cure also.)

I’m conflicted in how I feel about this book.  Overall, I’m glad I read it, but also disappointed in how some of the characters were developed.  I obviously cared enough to finish it, but had I known how it ended would I have?  Could I recommend it?  I really am torn…  I think the idea is great; much like other prescriptions for reading ideas/lists.  I think this one struck me especially because I can’t remember ever having a Hindi protagonist.  There were a lot of words I had to look up and I loved it!  I was annoyed at the shallow development of the secondary characters and the non-development, or explanation, of some of the more main ones.  What’s the deal with the mom?  Is it just depression or is there a backstory we’re not getting?  And the ending with the brother…that one bothered me, as it was supposed to.  So…I *think* I can sort of recommend it, but won’t be in a book hole for my next one.
