First Joyce novel. Liked the experimental form. Loved the coming of age (Kildungsroman) aspects and the development of Dedalus’ loss of religious belief

I probably would have liked this more if I didn't have a god awful professor teaching me it

Wow that was awful. I finally decided to crank the reading speed up so I could just finish this. This was comparable to Faulkner’s awful books. Boo for boring reads. Double thumbs down for books that make no sense, offer no value, and having no meaning.

Coming of age tale with some similarity to Catcher in the Rye. This story is send in Ireland in the early 1900s. It was good, just not my cup of tea. I get why many folks really like this book.

I wish James Joyce were still alive so he could text this whole piece to me and I could respond with a fire emoji
