Happy & You Know It is an upcoming dramatic novel about a glamorous group of young moms in New York. The synopsis gave me Gossip Girl vibes, so I was excited when I heard about it!
The book starts off really well with a mysterious opening, but unfortunately, I feel like it never really lived up to the beginning. This story was slower than I expected - there was a lot of background info on characters that I hadn't really been given a reason to care about yet.
Some interesting elements were introduced, such as mental health, race, drug use, leaving a megachurch, etc., but none of these ever really went anywhere. The book was fairly lighthearted, but still attempted to have important topics woven in, and it felt out of place. I guess I wanted more of a balance - either have everything be light, or go deeper into these topics.
I was surprised by the villain, and I always appreciate that. I thought I had everything figured out, and I didn't. This ended up being a middle-of-the-road read for me, but I still had fun with it overall.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a newish mom the characters’ desire to do what is best for their children and be perfect moms and wives was all too relatable. It was a fun read, but there were some lines that hit home and others that I marked as reminders as I navigate motherhood.

I really wanted to like this, and was excited by the premise of a Nanny Diaries meets struggling musician set-up There were definitely elements that were engaging, but overall I just did not really care about any of these characters and I found the "plot twists" annoying. It was a struggle to get through. Probably just not the right book at the right time for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trashy summer read! Lol! There were some very...descriptive scenes, but it wasn't too over the top. The writing was good and the story was delightful ☺️ Highly recommend!

Oh, this is an unexpected book. I was intrigued by the premise and got pulled in deep and fast. When it started, I thought this was going to be a friendship drama, and then it twisted in a delightful way.

4.5 stars. It began a bit slow but from page 100 on I had a hard time putting it down. Easy read and loved how it addresses how hard it is to be a new mom regardless of your social position. The struggle to balance new motherhood, a good wife and a healthy home. It was fun and with an unexpected thriller ending.
