I'm thrilled to dive back into these books through the audiobooks – a fantastic opportunity to revisit the characters and the world I adored during my first encounter with the ARCs. The emphasis in this installment leans more towards character and relationship development, offering deeper insights into the alphas' perspectives as they navigate their separation from Kiarra.

In this sequel, Kiarra undergoes significant growth, unlocking more of her powers and showcasing her flourishing abilities. Witnessing her integration into the fight scenes, despite conflicting with alpha instincts, underscores the evolving trust between Kiarra and her companions.

The decision to employ a full cast for narration adds a dynamic layer to the storytelling, a refreshing change from the usual one narrator for each MMC in RH/why-choose romance audiobooks. However, while the majority of the narration shines, one of the male narrators fell short for me. The voice and tone used for all the other MMCs in his chapters felt disconnected, and inauthentic to each of the characters. The tone used was higher pitched and faster paced which is the opposite of what I would imagine for a character such as Rion.

Overall, I would give this book 4 stars for the audiobook/reread. The story and characters remain close to my heart, and I eagerly await the final installment of the series in audio format.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC.

I probably should count this as a DNF but I skimmed the last 100 pages so I’m going to count it. I think my biggest issue with this book and maybe the series is it feels like an endless loop of the same story. Like constantly the MMC are over the top lovey lovey but like we never even really see or understand why they all love each other so much. Like y’all knew each other as kids and that’s as deep as it goes. I feel like these characters could have been good if they would stop going on and on about how much they love the FMC. Sure they had the whole bad guy situation going on but it’s never really focused on or give a story. We know there’s a situation with the bad guys going on but it’s not really talked about. I don’t know it felt lacking to me. I will say that this books writing is an improvement to the first book. This book is way spicer than the first. I’d give it like 3.5 🌶️ spice in the spicy scale. But it’s pretty much only spicy the last 100 pages or so. I will not be continuing this series.

I couldn’t connect with the characters, there wasn’t really any world building. I would have stop in the first book but started the second one because I thought it had potential, but the story was all over the place
