This book picked up after that cliffhanger where our FMC, Kiarra, believes that all of her fated mates are dead. She is back to being tortured by King and his men all the while her men are frantically searching for her. The writing still had something lacking but I couldn't tell you what. I rated 4 stars based on vibes - I think, in my personal preference, it took too long for her guys to get her back. I don't mind a little separation and torture, but this went on for so long that it weakens the romance plot line since there's only so much genuine relationship building you can do with the remaining pages (if that makes sense). I know the series isn't done yet and I'll definitely be reading the next book, but I'm hoping I can feel more depth between Kiarra and her men.
keeps getting better!
This was a great addition to the original book! The character development is incredible and the world building grows so spectacularly in this book! I adore Kiarra and her men! Especially watching the grisly, possessive alphas acting so obsessed and worshipping with their mate! I can’t wait to see what happens on the next part of their journey!

*a little Dub-Con: she wakes up with one of the guys touching her with the intent to turn her on (but not touching her no-no-square until shes awake-ish)
Made me a tiny but uncomfortable
wow
I’ve been waiting excitedly for this book and it was even better than I could’ve ever imagined! I can’t wait for the next one!!

yeah nah i couldn’t make myself finish this, i was fighting falling asleep it was making me so bored as i was so disconnected from the story at this point and just skimming to get through it. but that’s no way to start the new year so i will dnf at any stage, even 20 pages from the end😌
i really really liked the first book and so i bought all 3 in paperback and wow do i regret that. it had so much potential but the new threat storyline wasn’t that well written in my opinion? it didn’t fully connect to the first book/original story as well as it could’ve and i think that’s what started me feeling disconnected and meh about the story.
i love smut SO much but there was just a lot of sex but in a bad way? instead of getting to know each other and then connect that way (like the luka sex scenes, those were amazingly done) sex was used instead to show they were getting closer but like nah, that’s not how that works? so yeah, just felt weird
and i noticed in this book that rion and kai are described so similarly that i found it hard to tell who was who and who had what personality/interactions with the main gal (forgot her name yass). i also don’t think any of the characters appearances were fully described either which made it hard to get into the story and visualise them. jax was really funny though so i’ll miss him ugh

I really enjoyed book 1 so I couldn’t wait to read this one but I was majorly disappointed. LOTS of information dumping in book 2 that was structured as slow reveals in book 1 and repetitions of this same idea of the boys being “abominations”— it was hard for me to get through, which is sad because I enjoyed blood & ruin so much.
