This is a very strange and horrifically beautiful book. First book on the favourites shelf since last summer!!!!

Mona Awad's writing is exquisite. This book has such vivid imagery and really engages with all of your senses. Despite its lengthy description and Samantha's verbose inner dialogue, it does not feel overwritten. I think this is in part due to being split into separate parts, all of which have a distinct and compelling voice. The clear narrative voice was probably the highlight of the novel to me: Samantha has such a defined voice that varies depending on context, and there is a really interesting blurring of the "real" (within the scope of the novel) and Samantha's penchant for lying. There are also these really interesting moments where Samantha addresses the reader to sort of break the fourth wall, so to speak, engaging with the reader as a writer in her own right. I love books about writers (The Idiot by Elif Batuman, my dearest beloved) so this book was an absolute win for me.

'Heathers' meets 'The Secret History' but on acid. A whole lot of acid. Or some really colourful Tic Tacs!

This is pure fever dream INSANITY. I’m not really sure how I feel about it though. It was completely and utterly unputdownable but I can tell if I thought it was genius or utterly terrible. I’m definitely going to be thinking about this one for a long time in any case

Bunny is an incredible horror premise that lack a bit of something to really drag you into the book and the character. Sometimes I found myself getting unfocused and bored when the prose dragged on too long without much happening, yet it was beautifully written & a compelling story.

This was such a fun and addictive read. Definitely weird. Unlike anything else I’ve ever read and I loved it!

This was a wild ride, a weird fever dream of a story. Not sure what to say about it. It's not for everyone and was darker than I expected it to be but I ended up enjoying it in the end.

reading this felt like watching a black mirror x american horror story hybrid (no pun intended) episode
