I am a mutal with the author. Take that as you may.

Book 3.5 stars. The book has pretty good pacing, only felt it was slow in one area but no long drawn out times. There are times the MC's motivations for some emotions are not portrayed well, for example they get mad at others and it feels very out of left field and the reader is just supposed to go with the flow. After we hear of the reasoning as to why Ava is mad but no true build to it before.

Something else of note is Ava seems to have some intelligence, but man, does she just make stupid decisions with no real training or any kind of plan. I feel like much of the "regular" world could have been shortened to give more time for her training and building of connections in the other world.

My only other knitpick with the story is the use of references that may "date" it. We all know who Wolverine is now, but in 20 years, who knows. Can make books feel "old" down the road.

Lastly, as most books, I listened to the audiobook. The reader is not bad, just lacks range in her voices, and with some chapters being different characters, it can take you out when they all sound the same, especially the more masculine characters.

Good quick fun read, with interesting lore and world building.

This series has a cool storyline idea; I liked the blend of Indigenous and Norse mythology and found the historical element to the supernatural theme in the book to be interesting. The characters are in high school, so them having a slightly less mature perspective or behavior is expected, but the writing style was a bit choppy and simplistic and the dialogue felt repetitive at times. There was depth to the storyline and the merging of the past and present but there wasn’t enough to the supporting characters. Overall an okay YA fantasy read.

I received The Sacrifice of Ava Black as a beta reader copy for my honest review. Thank you A. G. Porter for allowing me to read your book.

I loved The Sacrifice of Ava Black.
The story is about Ava, who has some very relatable struggles. She manages them the best way she can. Some new friends come along-some good, some bad. Ava has to make some hard choices, and grow into the person she is supposed to be and that includes learning a lot about herself.

This story is magical and exciting! Great for young adult fantasy lovers! I can’t wait to read more from this author!

The sacrifice of Ava black not only held my interest it had me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with the characters so fast. this was well written and I knew from the beginning who’s story it was and where it took place. I loved that the main character was very relatable with how she expressed her feelings throughout the book. The descriptions were so vivid it was like the characters were standing in front of me. I love that the author held my interest throughout this entire book I didn’t want to put it down. The sacrifice of Ava black had the perfect amount of tension, conflict and intrigue I did not get bored at all I constantly wanted to know what would happen next. The authors writing style is spot on with the genre and I can not wait to read more of her books!

Great! I received an ARC for an honest review!

The story was fantastic and I love the idea and the mythology. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger. Now I have to wait for the 2nd one!

The story of Ava Black had me sitting on the edge of my seat from the very first page. As you read you can truly feel the struggles Ava goes through. You get to follow the steps and work Ava puts into herself to become who she was meant to be. The intensity of the story increases as time goes on. This book has it all, mystery, love, friendship, drama, and a truly evil villain.

Ava Black is your typical popular cheerleader & queen bee of highschool until she started getting plagued by debilitating migraines. Now she hides in the shadows and is the one being bullied. Along comes Keira a foreign exchange student who befriends Ava and helps her see she is still worthy of friendship. In that circle of friends is also Gabe, the loner of the highschool who knows more about Ava than he’s letting on. Together they will discover that magic is a part of their community.

This YA Paranormal Romance book was very well written with great character development. I really enjoyed the flashback dreams which tell a story within the book. The witches of Thyana seek to destroy humanity while the mavors are protectors. I love how we see Ava grow throughout and really accept who she is meant to be. With so many around her it’s hard to know who to trust. I love a good book where everyone you meet is not who they claim to be. This was played beautifully into the story. I can’t wait for book two because the ending left me with my jaw open!

Thank you A.G Porter for allowing me to read this ARC of The Sacrifice of Ava Black
