Don’t get me wrong, this was perfectly fine mystery novel if you like that sort of thing. 4 stars, at least. But it gets knocked a star for introducing a perfectly interesting sci-fi premise but not trying to explain it in ANY way. This is the gun that’s introduced in act 1. :P
I didn’t read the first one and I’m definitely not going to.

3.5/5. This is the sequel to Scalzi’s made-for-Audible novella, dispatcher. While the first book establishes the world where murder victims come back to life, the sequel leans heavily into the noir crime-thriller vibe.
Unlike most speculative fiction sequels, Scalzi doesn’t attempt to add new dimensions to the rules of the world. Instead, he just teases the original rules out a bit more. If someone wanted to commit a murder in a world where murder victims are instantly resurrected, how would one do it?
Not a bad way to spend 3 hours.

I love these - ZQ's voice is so perfect for the character. I'm excited about the implication that there will be additional books.
