I refuse to believe that not a single person would contact someone in the Hall family once word got out that Heather was pregnant. And that Colt wouldn't be mad at her more for keeping that secret for so long.

From everything that's mentioned about Colt in the previous 4 books, I was expecting him to be more resistant to life outside of the Airforce and to love. His story and transition seemed to flow a lot easier than I was expecting. I think it could have been angstier, but I was still generally happy with the story.

Mason Hall is the last of four brothers who is not married. Aunt Heloise give the four brothers a year to each find a bride, get married, and be living on the ranch, along with a few other little things in order to get the family ranch back into their hands.

Mason had said he would stay career Air Force but would do his part to help his brothers get back the deed to the ranch. That is until he realizes that he really does need to go home and find his first love.

Heather loved Mason as a teenager after a bit of a detour. But she has been hiding a secret from Mason for thirteen years now. But his brothers and their wives all know about this secret and decide to help Heather get Mason back. Heather answers Mason’s online ad for a wife with their help and that is when the fun begins.

Can Heather and Mason overcome their history and their personal demons and find ever lasting love? How will Mason feel about Heather after he discovers her little secret?

This book has a bit of hot and steamy but tastefully done. And while this book is part of a series, it can be safely read as a stand alone. You are introduced to Mason’s brothers and their wives plus the community of Chance Creek. There are other books in the Chance Creek series that are just as wonderful to read if you have not read them yet.

This is the perfect book for sitting out on the front porch or back deck in the shade to read on a lazy afternoon. Or tucked up on the couch in the air conditioning if you are in the deep south. Pour yourself your favorite drink and have it by your side while you enjoy this lovely finish to a series or start the series.

Full disclosure - I was provided with an advance reader copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review of this book.

Really hated part of the plot, the two fiancé thing drove me crazy! I did like how he balked and got married the day after the deadline.

Have read book 1 and 2 in the series before, and looked forward to this.
Seriously disappointed.
The plot just fell into a ditch and barely managed to get out in the end.
Heloise is not believable, the relationship between colt and heather happens way too fast, and then heather let everyone walk all over her. Please, you’re a mom and a business owner, you don’t let people walk all over you like that!
The book made me dislike all the characters.

Not very well written. Most certainly the weakest one of the series. There were huge contradictions from this book to others in the series. The literary conflict was over contrived and unbelievable. The only redeem feature in this book is that it brings the overall series arching story to a conclusion.

Cole has been dragging his heels about coming home. He (as they all do) feels guilty over his father's death and for stealing his brother's girlfriend. Little does he know that his brother's girlfriend Heather got pregnant and he has a son.

The wives of Cole's brothers conspire with Heather to get her and Cole together. They give her Cole's advert for a wife and she responds under a pseudonym. Of course she isn't very subtle and Cole realises quite quickly that it is Heather. Then she realises that he knows it's her, the he realises that she knows that he knows it's her (and so on).

Cole was a bit of a whiner quite honestly. He walked away from Heather, never said goodbye, never contacted her again - yet when he finds out that he has a son he's mad at her. Heather on the other hand is a bit of a doormat. She still loves Cole and no matter what he says or does she still wants him and lets him walk all over her.

But, notwithstanding that, I did enjoy the book.

I kind of want to punch Heloise in the throat... cannot bear smug manipulating she-bags. Irrelevant that they were all happy... was her smugness that negated all of that. If I had been them... I would've found a new ranch and buggered off quite frankly.

But, well written. Really liked Heather.

03/02/21 Just read/re-read this series. It is sweet... to a degree. But, I maintain my feelings about Heloise... just an awful caricature of a character. Still think they should've all buggered off. And am feeling ambivalent about them all really, having re-read them over a day or so... they don't come across as particularly decent people. I think Mason & Regan are the 'nicest' of the bunch.

Colt... what can I say about him?
He is sooooo funny!! He and Heather are just made for each other and I'm so glad the book gave them this chance. I also have to say Richard was a great character in this book, the way he spoke to his dad, wow.
I can't believed this series is over now... I want more!!!!
