That was an easy five stars!
What a brilliant and heart shattering collection. Every single story was gripping and beautifully written. These are the kinds of stories that stick in your gut long after that last page is turned. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next, and if you haven’t already, go out immediately and purchase her debut - Songbirds & Stray Dogs, which was another gem of a book.

Congrats to my friend Meagan! Her remarkable talents are on full display with this gritty and inventive story collection. Her characters are pressed to their limits, which keeps the tension high and the reader turning the pages. The writing is sophisticated, and the plots are clever and entertaining. Highly recommended for fans of short fiction!

How to tell you about this book without giving anything away has been keeping me from writing this review. I will give it my best shot. It's really dark, has elements of death, murder, drug use and brutal, gritty evil moments. Mostly set in the Appalachian area of the U.S., it shows that all is not as it seems in this hard living area. All short stories, it's a very quick read.
