Shadow's story is much darker than Serpent's. Something he comments on himself at one point in the book. Although from very different backgrounds, he finds a kindred spirit in Colleen. She was an amazing character - probably my favorite so far in this series. Full of adventure, heartache, and enough twists to build a labyrinth, this is a book that drags you in and keeps you thinking afterwards.
