I really like John Wyndhams writing but this one wasn’t for me; The second half of the book was better than the first half.

First and foremost I am a fan of John Wyndham. I was intrigued by the ideas behind the creation of a utopian society and the promise of horrors lurking in a post nuclear deserted island. I think you can tell this was published after his death as it seems a bit lacking compared to his other books, more of a short story feel. That said I found it thoroughly enjoyable and close to 5 stars.

3.5* Another fun apocalypse from the pen of one of my childhood faves, which makes me a completely unreliable nostalgia-skewed reviewer. Not of the calibre of his better known works, but thoroughly enjoyable SF worthy of his pulp 'John Beynon' and 'Lucas Parkes' personas, and every credit to the man for still knocking them out 10 years after his death.
