It took me forever to read this book and now I finally read it, I must say it’s an okay read for me as someone who watched the movie first before reading it. I might admit that the book was better in terms of the ending. I got bored reading some parts of the book though. What I like was the aesthetics of the place and the vivid moments Elio and Oliver had. I’m very intrigued in reading the next book.

Jsem z toho strašně rozčarovaná. Plno věcí tam bylo nádherných, navíc je ta kniha napsaná opravdu krásným jazykem, ale spousta věcí mě tam taky neskutečně štvala. Celkově asi něco mezi 3* a 4*.

I would give it 5 stars, but I would rather reserve that rating for an impossibly exceptional book. This is an incredible story about the awakening of love and desire. Beautifully written, narrated through the eyes, ears, and heart of 17-year old Elio. And having read Aciman's memoir-essays (Alibis), I can't help but see Aciman writing himself into the sentences, revealing his own questions and insights about place, time, and people. He also writes for the senses, and you can feel the places as you read. Lovely book for the summer, but timeless.
