We both really enjoyed the conclusion to the Royal Brotherhood series. Byrne is a believably (not-all-that-bad) bad boy, and Christabel is the good girl who's always toed the line. He corrupts her just enough, and she makes him "want to be good."
The characters are mature and their love story is convincing. That said, this isn't a serious romance novel. It's got plenty of over-the-top historical romance spice to keep it interesting, and the love scenes are steamy. (There are 3 chapters of sexy card playing, OK?) We really, really liked it!
22-Word Summaries:
Meg: How to score an invite to England’s most exclusive card party: pretend to be the mistress/card partner of London’s sexiest gambler.
Laine: Not all cardsharks are rapists: a primer by the world's best daughter. Dedicated to a Gibraltarian who is definitely NOT prinny's son.

I gave the full series a shot and found that the men became more disgusting as the books progressed, culminating in this one. Between using b**** often, treating the heroine like property, not taking a "no" for a "no" and the possessive jealousy that was meant to be romantic but came across as boorish and controlling, I'm surprised I finished this book. It also had its share of other problematic tropes like pitting women against each other and having the heroine fix the hero amd forgive him of many wrongs because he has a tortured past. It did end on a good note, where the otherwise selfish hero made a sacrifice and all was right again, but it wasn't enough to save the book (or series) as a whole.

one of the most interesting hr premises ive read. i loved the pace and their chemistry was amazing.
I quite liked Gavin and didn't mind Christabel as his partner. I get their attraction and liked the plot. However, I have a hard time believing that a novice whist player could become awesome at it and win a tournament within two weeks. That's crap!
But whatever, it's fiction. Enjoyable read and kept me up while nursing baby #2. :)

The end of a very strong trilogy and the best of the three. You must read the other two to get the full enjoyment out of the third.
Thank goodness for two rational, intelligent characters who aren't silly, don't do ridiculously stupid things, and stand up for themselves and each other. I liked almost everything about this book. It was very satisfying the whole way through.

I was nervous before starting this book because I did not like the premise, but I was wrong. It was amazing and forced like I feared. I actually liked this book better than Marcus' book. I loved how well Gavin and Christabel complimented each other and how they helped each other grow. Christabel was strong and feisty and utterly charming. Gavin was strong and loyal and swoon worthy. It was fabulous. I cannot wait to start her next series.

This one may have been my favorite out of the 3 books. The story was fun and the characters were entertaining (minus Stokely).
Marcus, from the previous book, is more my type of guy but I really did enjoy Gavin. The "bad boy" who really has a heart pure as gold. The interactions between him and Christabel were funny and them becoming partners for their scheme was the best. Prinny is still the worst but at least he still gave Gavin is barony.
The only thing I wish I had more of was interactions with the 3 brothers. They are funny individually but the few moments we get with them together really warmed my heart. All in all a cute series.
