good multi-threaded procedural thriller, covering New York on 9/11 and a scam which grew from there, touching on Melbourne, Brighton, and philatelic gangsters.

This was OK--standard British police procedural. My criticism are: TOO much going on, and hopping about in time and place from chapter to chapter, needs editing--no way do we need to see every scnee we get--and it's really not a "whodunit." So, Ok travel reading, I wouldn't have bothered to finish it otherwise.

I don't think I've ever read any of Peter James' books in the past but that will definitely change because I thought this was excellent. I enjoyed the writing and the plot and the characters. The story zipped along and kept me interested throughout. I shall go and read some more. Bravo.

Great as all The Roy Grace books have been I've read but, unlike the previous three, it was a bit harder to read because it flits between different times and years. Once you get your head round it though, it's fine. Incredible that you don't really know what the connection is between all of the characters unlit with the last 100 pages! And very nice little twist in the last sentence!

Peter James has a fantastic knack for weaving together several seemingly unrelated stories. Roy Grace solves another one, with some nail-biting action at the end.

I'm a big fan of the Roy grace series. They usually have interesting subject matter and I like the in depth detail in which he describes criminal investigations.

If I could give this zero stars I would. I couldn't get past the disguntingly sexist attitude. And opening up your novel talking about your protagonists genitals? Gross. I didn't form an attachment to a single character because I didn't care. I don't know why I finished this because it was a waste of my time. Don't read this book if you have taste and were born after 1930.

I love this series!
This novel is hard to describe in a few words, it's all complicated and messy in a good way. Ronnie disappears, later thought to have died in 9/11. Abby is stuck in an elevator for almost a whole day. A body is found in a drainage sewer. Another body is found in Austalia. What is the connection? This is what makes this story interesting, trying to figure out all of the possible ways that these people all connect. This story was as interesting and intriguing as the last three. I though that reading about police procedures would be kind of boring, but Peter James has the knack of making it interesting. This story also had an interesting plot that involved stamps. Who knew that they could be worth so much money! I like the fact that every character, even the good guys, are flawed. No one is perfect and no one pretends to be perfect. I look forward to reading more Roy Grace novels.
