A thoroughly engaging story with well-researched history.

I enjoyed the historical detail crafted by Brooks. While I wasn't completely engaged with Zoe and Eva in the early stages of the book, as time went on and the story developed I felt the depth of their friendship in this wonderfully crafted book.

Close to a 5 star book for me but there were some typos and grammatical errors.

The story was good but it was hard to read because of all of the gramatical errors. Also, there was a lot of tense switching. All in all, a good book in desperate need of an editor.

Poorly written, full of clichés, with absolutely no subtlety or complexity to any of the characters, and a poor grasp of time.

I also despise a romance between a 15yo and a 23yo, especially since the young one is written, whether deliberately or due to the awful writing, as someone older with childish moments, and the age difference keeps shifting as the author cannot keep track of her characters' ages (at the end, the older one says she's 26 when only a few weeks ago, the younger one had her 16th birthday, with the date also not corresponding).
