12 year old me would have been absolutely enamoured with this book and would have obsessed about being great friends with Percy, Annabeth and Grover. 36 year old me has some issues with the dialogue and character descriptions (SO MANY ugly things). I’ve already started watching the new Disney+ series and appreciate the changes that have been made to the story.

But overall it’s a fun little romp - a very easy read and a great way to pique an interest in Greek mythology. I’m interested to see how Percy and his powers develop and where the story goes from here.

I wish I had these books as a pre-teen/teen. This YA series would have hooked me with the adventure and Greek lore.

It still does as an adult, but you definitely feel the lack of character development, emotional connections, how most of the plot feels a bit rushed, and how easy it is to predict the twists.

It still creates a lighthearted adventure full of magic, wild turns, and old Greek god themes and weapons in a modern setting. Highly recommend ✨

+ very fun book to read. Percy is so funny and the humor works well even for an adult

After an 8-year break from this series, I made my return to Camp Half-Blood in anticipation of the series coming out at the end of the year.

I was a tiny bit skeptical about whether I would enjoy these books as an adult as much as I did as a kid, but I should've known better.

Somehow Rick Riordan manages to effortlessly blend adult humor with the kind of content that makes kids go crazy with laughter.

I enjoyed the Percy Jackson books as a kid for the characters, plot, and humor.

Every single one of those aspects of this book has stood the test of time and was just as enjoyable and loveable as they were when the book first came out.
