Miss Delia Trevor is determined to find the man responsible for her brother's death. To do this she assumes the persona of a man and gambles through the gaming hells in the seediest part of town. So far she has been able to pull off this ruse with little complications (besides still not having found the man she's looking for), until one night when Warren Corry, The Marquess of Knightford happens to recognize her.

Immediately Warren is determined to figure out just what Delia thinks she's doing. If she's found out by anyone else, it could ruin her reputation and keep her from making a good marriage. He's knows he needs to keep her away from the gaming hells at all costs. But as he continues to put himself in her path at every instance, he begins to become interested in her. But letting things become serious between the pair threatens to reveal Warren's own closely guarded secret.

Will these two be able to forego their secrets and finally be able to trust each other?

Of the three books released in this series so far, I'd have to say that The Danger of Desire is my favorite. The mystery of whether or not Delia will find the man responsible for her brother's death, and who that person may be, plus the added mystery of Warren's secret really drives the story. I wouldn't call it suspenseful by any means, but it certainly kept my attention.

The added bonus of the witty repartee and chemistry between Delia and Warren is just icing on the cake.

Then there's the fact that Sabrina Jeffries includes what I hope will be the next couple in the secondary characters. I don't really want to give anything away because they are somewhat tied to the main storyline, but suffice it to say, it's been awhile for me since a potential secondary couple came even close to outshining the main romance. Which means, that if this couple does indeed get the next book in the series, my hopes are already quite high.

Overall, I've really enjoyed this series, it's one I look forward to each new release, and it seems as though Sabrina Jeffries has really his her stride with this one.

Warren has tried for years to escape the parson's trap. He has no interest in marriageable women but does know that one day he'll need to settle down and have an heir. Which is why he finds his fascination with eligible Delia so very confusing. She's nothing like the widows or doxies he normally spends his time with but her straightforward attitude and secrets are drawing him in. Delia is determined to discover the scoundrel that cheated her brother out of their family fortune and if the only way to do that is dressed as a man in a gaming hell, then she'll do it. She just needs Warren off her back so she can complete her hunt. As Delia's hunt becomes more dangerous they can't help be thrown together more and more and keeping secrets could finally tear them apart. Really fun read in the Sinful Suitors series. I enjoy seeing previous characters and reading their HEA progression but also meeting who is next up in the series. Can't wait!

Oh these two. Delia was sure a handful. I mean sneaking out, gambling and getting away with it. She has a good head on her shoulders but was so reckless.

Warren was a good guy, and he sure gets curious when he stumbles upon this mystery. And he is a gentleman too, he can't just leave it be.

There is also the mystery concerning her brother, who did he lose his money too. She needs to solve it. And save her home. Her brother and father both gambled away too much.

And as for Warren, he is just trying to avoid matchmakers.

But they fall in love. And she is so stubborn!

I liked the twist which I cannot speak of. Also the next book looks to be good too.

A nice romance

I enjoyed this book. It felt like a quick, light read. The characters were enjoyable and amusing. Not my favorite read of late, but it did the job.

I read Sabrina Jeffries years ago and had the impression that she was similar to Julia Quinn or Eloisa James in that she was all sugary sweetness and fluff to the point of a toothache. But, wow, either she's upped her game or I completely misremembered her writing!

I really enjoyed this novel about two people stumbling into something beautiful. I enjoyed Delia's forays into the "stews" to search for clues to her brother's death. I enjoyed puzzling out Warren's past fears and nightmares and how the couple was going to work out both of their current insecurities based on their personal histories.

I didn't give this a big 5 stars ✨ because of just a few odd moments. In the first half of the book, I was preparing myself for a novel focused on intrigue - who was the villain to cheat her brother at cards? I imagined a sinister plot with evil intentions because, duh, romance tropes are kinda predictable. But then the latter half of the book after they were married turned into a sweeter, softer romance of meshing well with each other rather than refocusing on the suspense plot. I was kinda waiting for something more... And when the big reveal happened, I was confused because it seems anticlimactic. And the explanation and wrap up was a little weak.

But, like I said. These were just small, odd moments that I'm thinking about now that I've finished the book. Overall, I loved their romance, banter, and yearning for a safe relationship. The odd moments didn't pull me out of the story or dampen my curiosity for the next book!

Delia isn't your typical debutante, in so many ways. She is on a mission, of sorts and her dear friend Clarissa ( The Study of Seduction) has concerns for her recent behavior.
Bringing her concerns to her cousin, Warren Corry, the Marquess of Knightford, and asking him to uncover what the issue may be. Of course Warren is not looking for marriage or dealing with irksome females at all, but for his cousin whom he has always tried to protect he'll take on the challenge. What he uncovers in Delia's escapades opens his eyes to more than he expected. Will she be the match he wasn't looking for or will the past tear them apart?

I did really enjoy this edition to the Sinful Suitors series, the story was great, I loved Delia, I liked most of the secondary characters, and I’m very much looking forward to reading the next book sooner, rather than later.

My issue was Warren. I understood why he was up at night, every night. That didn’t bother me, it didn’t even bother me that he would go to brothels as often as he did, pre meeting Delia. What I had trouble believing was that Warren would stay faithful to Delia. During almost this whole read I was at least 90% sure pre-marriage to Delia he was still visiting the brothels. Even though there was only one scene where we saw him at a brothel after he met Delia, I never fully believed he’d stop, until I got to about last 50-75 pages of the story.

I recived a copy via NetGalley.

As soon as I read what this one was about I wanted to read it! Who doesn't love a story where the heroine dresses as a man to do something either for fun or revenge. I loved their meeting and that they both were playing a game with each other. There were times I believed he would reveal her secret to protect her or that she would be in more danger. Everything surrounding the wedding was amazing and I loved how his point of view at the alter. I was not expecting the ending and I could never have predicted who it was that cheated her brother.

Delia thought she had the perfect plan to catch the man that caused her brother's death and save their home, but she didn't realize how dangerous it the what if's could be. I loved how bold she was and that she did what she wanted. She was sweet, protective and didn't think the worst of things that Warren did.

Warren had painful secrets from his childhood that kept him up at all hours of the night so he said he would never marry. I loved how he took care of others without realizing it most of the time because it was in his nature. When his childhood was revealed It made him even more loveable.

They were perfect for each other and had odd, but cute nicknames for each other. I loved Flossie the cat and her aunt.
