Not quite as compelling as the first book, but still objectively good. The main story of this book is arguably a bit too busy given its length - lots of characters and some issues with pacing.

I did not realize at the time of purchase that the second half of the book is entirely written by the colorist, explaining the decisions they made when working on this story. This may be of interest to some, but I merely skimmed it. There are two (very) short stories at the end, and they are both weak.

As with the first book, the physical dimensions are quite nice and it's pleasant to read.

On the one hand, this is definitely my favorite of the Blacksad stories I’ve read. We’ve settled on a characterization for Blacksad now, and there are no awkward ties to the real world. Just a darn good yarn about a musician gone missing and people who are winding up dead

The art is still great, but this story happens to take place in New Orleans, so we get to move away from the drab noir tones of the previous stories into something brighter and more colorful, which is a great contrast to the darkness of the plot. So yeah, best artwork of the series so far as well

On the other hand…as a package, I’m not a fan of this volume. For around the same retail price as the previous book, you end up with a slimmer volume and only about half of that is story content (58 pages out of 108). The other 50 pages is made up by a BTS book about the art of Blacksad. Now, I love the artwork of these books, but I would certainly have preferred for this to be a three story volume like the last one, or even a two story volume. So this isn’t a good place to start with Blacksad, but if you’re already a fan of the series, you wouldn’t let something like this stop you from getting all the content

Once again I love the art in the Blacksad stories, but this was seemed a little disjointed. I'm not sure if the pages were printed out of order or if the writer was attempting a non-linear timeline, but things just seemed a little off.
