"And that guy? You should climb him like a tree. Or at the very least shake his branches. See what kind of nuts fall out."
....................
"I was a ghost, wandering the rooms of a museum of the person I used to be, and Jason was like one of the living who could somehow see me and decided to wander the place with me."
....................
" 'It’s just how I feel. I’m yours. All of me. I think I always belonged to you. Even when you belonged to someone else.' His eyes moved back and forth between mine. 'Tucker knew it. He took one look and he saw the other half of me inside of you and he brought you home.'"

Wow. I mean I loved The Friend Zone, but this topped that! This may be my book of the year!

The Happy Ever After Playlist is about a young widowed woman who is a few years into her grief and stuck in the "in between" not quite living life anymore, when a runaway dog finds her and leads her to finding their owner, an amazing man who happens to be a musician that is just now making it big, who falls in love with her.

This book had all the things needed to make it a good romance (to me, who is not a big romance reader).  It had lots of fun, hilarious commentary and moments, adorable dogs, true love, music, fierce lady friendships, grief and sadness, and lots of awesome cabin/small town and Minnesota's North Shore mentions. Most importantly though, it has love that feels like it could be real, with conflicts and misunderstandings, with a good level of mush and it all cooked together to make it so amazing that you can't hold back tears as you get further into it (those last few chapters, oh man!).

This is my second book I have read by this author, and I enjoy the real-world issues that she puts into her romance stories. It makes the story more realistic and relatable. Sure, sometimes it's nice to escape into a perfect relationship that isn't real but it's also rewarding to see people fight though the hard parts and figure things out. This book deals with grief and learning how to pull yourself together eventually.  I plan on continuing to read other books by this author.

This book continues Sloan's story after she loses her fiancé at the end of The Friend Zone. The book does a great job of portraying the big and little things about this type of grief. The meet-cute was extremely cute, and I enjoyed how their relationship grew. My only issue was I didn't love what happens after they declare their love for each other.
I think there was some middle ground between "Sloan stays home and never sees him" and "Sloan joins him on the entire tour". Like, what about a week here and there?
Regardless, I really enjoyed the story.

my first abby Jimenez book! I really enjoyed this book, especially as a kick off for a summer of romance books! I really loved how they handled the grief aspect, while not like. bogging it down and feeling like "should she really be dating yet". Jason was an amazing love interest and he enamored me pretty quickly. I will say I felt like the part where Sloan decides to go on tour with Jason after all felt rushed, and like a conversation was cut out and replaced by "they had a conversation" that I would've really liked to see.

overall though, I enjoyed this book, and will DEFINITELY be returning to abby as an author. the way she writes romance is really good.
