WOW!!! This was AMAZING! A perfect sequel!
This review may be a bit scattered and short because I just finished reading this book and it’s almost 12am. Oops…
This book had me on the edge of my seat! The pacing and characterization was perfect. Each part of the book had its own twists and turns that I would’ve never expected, and I’m amazed at how everything came together even if many plans didn’t work out. I could never predict anything that was going to happen and it made reading this book so fun and nerve-wracking!
I also really enjoyed the development of Wylan and Jesper’s relationship as well as themselves—same with Kaz and Inej. Seeing Kaz and Inej’s relationship develop from Six of Crows is so heartwarming, realistic, and perfect. I love how Wylan and Jesper’s thoughts, feelings, and relationships (with themselves, other characters, and their parents) are touched on.
(SPOILERS for this next part) And, obviously, I can’t forget about Nina and Matthias. AUGH! I love them and Matthias’ death made me so distraught!!! I loved seeing both their POVs expand on their thoughts about each other and how they began to unravel their prejudices and how Matthias wanted to help others do the same.
Besides the tragic end for Matthias, the rest of the ending was really well done. I LOVED the scene with Kaz and Inej at the end it warmed my heart seeing them like that and having Kaz (and let’s not lie, Inej too) work through their emotional constipation and issues at least a little bit lol. (And don’t even get me started on the Kanej bathroom scene!!!! They make me so crazy, I love them)
Also all the worldbuilding and lore we got from this book was phenomenal AGAIN!

WHAT I WANTED

Kaz & Inej kissing in every other chapter
WHAT I GOT

Kaz being world's no. 1 badass !
This is the only reason I'm not giving this freakin' book a million stars . Damn you , Leigh Bardugo !! You broke my heart into small pieces .
Fair Warning - Mild Spoilers Ahead !!!
Leigh Bardugo rocked our hearts with Six Of Crows . And with Crooked Kingdom she wrecked it . How can it be that she is the author of the Grisha series ( which was a waste of time ) and Six Of Crows duology (which were finished in no time at all) .
The novel begins where the last one left off . Kuwei-Yul Bo is with the crows and Jan Van Eck has Inej . Kaz has to get Inej back . Get his thirty million Kruges . Bring Jan Van Eck to the ground . And settle scores with Pekka Rollins . That means a lot of scheming . And a lot of fun .
This book was a roller coaster ride . Each character got a fair share . And with the inclusion of Wylan's POV , the story just got more interesting .
With Crooked Kingdom , Leigh Bardugo has solified her place among the YA fantasy elite authors . And Kaz Brekker certainly as the best kick ass anti-hero .
These guys are really like the best friends I'm never ever going to meet . From Jesper's wit to Wylan's good conscience . From Nina's ferocity to Matthias's bravery . From Inej's daredevilry to Kaz's kick assness . I'll never forget you guys .
Crooked Kingdom was like a heartfelt farewell to these characters . In some ways this was even better than Six Of Crows . It had so much more action . The story took place in Ketterdam( by now it should have been a hot tourist destination ) . At Kaz's home turf . I couldn't guess what would happen next . And Kaz's schemes were unfolded so perfectly .
I loved how Wylan and Jesper's relationship moved forward . Nina and Matthias were the perfect couple (according to Six Of Crows's standard) . And Kaz and Inej . I don't have enough words to say about them .
Hats off ! To Leigh Bardugo . For that ending . It is more like a beginning . Of a more beautiful and better future for everyone . Even Kaz .
And thank you Ms. Bardugo for writing such an epic tale . Your story and your characters will remain with me forever .
4.5⭐️ Purely because why did Matthias have to go
