I am giving this book a low review because it’s literally centered around romanticized sexual slavery and it’s disgusting. Writing is great and so is the story development but I hate the plot of this book

It's interestin  how it connects  several social problems such as misogyny, sexual assault, abuse , bullying etc with the magic of the world and the behavior of the main characters when they deal with these problems

I genuinely hate this book so much. It was marketed for being lgbtq+ which was why I decided to check it out in the first place but that was definitely a mistake. The main character is basically forced to be a prostitute and there are themes of sexual assault and bestiality
I really wanted to love this book. It was recommended everywhere as an LGBT read, and I was sorely disappointed with borderline bestiality and sexual assault. Wtf

I fell in love with this book immediately. The world building and lore are solid and brilliantly written; the characters feel like complex, whole people who really inhabit this world.

I got through this book, barely.  Queer content starts a third of the way through and is forbidden. It's forbidden because of misogyny and classism and not homophobia though so yay?

While it took a while, this book sucked me in. A beautiful and rich world, so well described that I was living in this magical world the last few days. The characters needed some getting used to, but once I did, I embraced and loved them. All of them were so carefully crafted and given beautiful depth. All the while a wonderful forbidden romance blossomed in the middle of it.
The story was a difficult one, but drew me in even more because of it. I suffered with these characters and fought with them. I definitely want to continue the series and keep on fighting with them. I desperately want to know where this world and its characters will go.
Unfortunately the book at the typical problem of a high fantasy book: a slow start with a lot of world building, making it incredibly hard to be drawn in. It probably took a solid 100 pages. I would’ve given this book the full five stars if it wasn’t for the rocky start.
