Similar consistency as previous but without the downsides. The issue “The Bogeyman” was a particularly strong standout, the platonic ideal of an episodic issue, and the overarching conflict, while occasionally becoming a *little* tedious, especially with all of the extended universe characters I’m clearly supposed to know, culminated excellently with the Meruem-esque struggle of the darkness for its meaning

Saga of the Swamp Thing is one of those “classics” I really wanted to love, but honestly, it did nothing for me. The early issues are painfully slow and packed with endless, overly flowery dialogue that drags the story down instead of letting the art breathe. I kept waiting for it to hook me — it never did.
The horror everyone praises just felt uneven and dated. Some villains come off more goofy than scary, and the art, while moody, often looks stiff and hard to follow by today’s standards. There’s atmosphere, sure, but the pacing is glacial and it feels like it takes forever to get to the point.
I get why it’s important historically, but as an actual read now? It was a slog. I can appreciate what Moore did for the character, but I won’t be revisiting this anytime soon.

Wow...
Just when I thought this series couldn’t get any more epic... this one is a doozy to say the least.
Alan Moore is a genius. He is an expert at introducing what seem like disparate elements, and making them all come together in surprising and astonishing ways. What begin in Volume 3 as the “American Gothic” seemed fantastic, yet strange, coalesces in this volume to the most incredible and mind-blowing conclusion. There are touches of Lovecraftian horror here, and my oh my, the scale and the scope of this volume left me in awe. These entire run is so essential for every comic book reader. An absolute masterpiece from a master storyteller.
