-i looove shen zechuan. I love how you don't really know what he's up to and seeing how people perceive him is so different from his real self
-xiao chiye really grew on me the way he's kept close eyes on SZC is so entertaining bc it's both bc he's incredibly sus about his agenda but also so into him
-cezhou as a couple is so *chef's kiss
-i rarely come across a TRUE enemies to lovers, but this is one of them and it's written so well. Still in the enemies phase but it's the ...enemies with benefits phase now??? Everything is still based in hatred, angst, and trauma lol
-ty for the small reward in the last 2 chapter after putting us through all the work that was Vol 1
-docking some just because of the sheer scale of world building with a massive cast that required me to use all of my braincells, BUT I think I have a good enough handle on things to keep going and I'm so excited to keep going :D

I kept putting off reading this because I wanted to finish other series. That was a poor choice! I can't believe it took me so long to get around to this. Is it my new favourite danmei? MAYBE!
There is a map in the beginning of the book which was both helpful and also signaled that we were in for a pretty serious story.
The beginning of this story is slightly harrowing, and it can deal with some dark things. Please look into the content warnings. This is very political, and has a large cast of characters. If you aren't a person who enjoys tracking a lot of characters or flipping to the cast list, this might not be a book for you.
I like the dynamic between Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye. I like that we get a little peek behind the curtain about what each of them are doing throughout the book. I was kicking my feet towards the end because it was just so fun and difficult to put the book down.
I enjoy the illustration style. They frame the illustrations, but break said frame with certain design elements, and that's really cool to see. They also do a good job at showing not just the main characters.
The only downside is that book 4 is only set to release next month, meaning the series is only half published! So I will either need to slow down quite a bit, or have long stints between books.
