i just can't do all this politics rn there's too many ppl and not enough time spent introducing any of them. feels like i'm meant to have studied the character list before reading, but i'm not the type to do so and i don't really believe in that kind of reading experience being fun. not for me, basically.
i spent the whole 32% i read thinking "ok so when are we getting to the main characters" bc there's just SO many ppl in here goddamn. and the very few scenes you get of them together is great - they hate each other so bad it seems like a wonderful setup for a true enemies to lovers style romance. i just don't have the patience for this rn there's like fourty more things i need to do sorry

You don't know REAL enemies to lovers btw until you read THIS. And Yao Wenyu (loml) first appearance in this?? 5 stars on its own.
No but ACTUALLY --QJJ is one of the danmei that is extremely rich in characters, plot, and politics. Yes, there are a lot of characters and is there A LOT going on? Yes, but that's the fun part of this story!! There is always something underlying that is happening underneath the surface and there are reasons things happen. The politics is hard to understand, but it makes reading the story worthwhile. The volume builds up to it, but it will always be worth the read. If you don't understand something now, you will understand it later.
Now can we talk about Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye?! The best danmei couple you will ever meet. They hate each other (for good reason!) but their chemistry is off the charts. Individually they are amazing characters, and their depth have no bounds. Both characters are stuck on a leash in Qudu, they are trapped. But because they are stuck in these cages, they are more similar than you think and that's why are perfect together! There is so much more to them and I don't think enough words can be described unless you read QJJ.
