I read it all in one sitting and I am still trying to recover from the mental breakdown this book gave me. It was so beautiful and as someone with a grumpy old baby who won’t be on the earth much longer, it hit home and most of these poems gave me a new meaning to the time I’ve spent with my boy

This is a poetry book for dog lovers. Which I am. Which is why I teared up at times. Though it does capture the heart strings of a dog lover, unfortunately I don’t find it to be well written. I found the structure confusing. At times I couldn’t tell when one poem ended and another began. One star for writing. Extra star because I am a dog lover.

I don’t have a dog myself but I’ve had dogs before and have always loved them so I was excited to read a book of poems solely about dogs. Unfortunately, I didn’t really enjoy this collection as I expected to. I often found myself bored and uninterested while reading. Usually I can get through a poetry book fairly quickly, but this one I had to put down several times and come back to later because I simply couldn’t continue reading. I like the premise and I did enjoy some of the stories throughout the collection, but overall this just didn’t do it for me.

Sometimes a book chooses you. I picked this one up for from the library and it was the perfect medicine for my soul today. Any dog lover no matter their place in their dog’s journey, these poems bring memories. We are truly so lucky to have dogs in our life who truly love unconditionally!

Firstly, I'd like to thank Netgalley and Central Avenue Publishing for the eARC for an honest review!

This book is for every animal lover out there but especially dog lovers! The poems in this collection are so lovely and cutesy. We get so many different stories about different dogs and different breeds. Everything that dogs give to us: companionship, love, friendship, a listening ear. Peppernell captures all this in this collection of poems and stories. The art inside is a great addition to the poems.

It was a fairly quick read and I really enjoyed reading it. A few of the pieces brought a tear to my eye as the collection also talks about how hard it is to lose our four legged friends. This would make a lovely gift to any dog lover!
