Just such an incredible book. It does what I love in magical realism, where the magical elements complement the character development, and that shapes the story rather than in fantasy, where the world and its great threat create the plot. Circe is deep and complicated, all of the characters are so beautifully introduced and then morph in ways you don't expect. It is so feminist without having the sugary pop-feminism coating of perfect badass female characters, it's real and everyone is flawed. Plus a really amazing way to learn more about the Greek myths, I knew vague parts of the stories from Homer's odysseus and my Percy Jackson days, but it was awesome to get characters and an understanding of their motivations.
