David Mitchell takes dry British humour to its absolute zenith in this very funny and honestly still very relevant read. Some jokes may have taken a minute or a quick bit of research on the part of my uncultured gen Z brain to fully appreciate but the majority of the book was just a fun, insightful journey into the mind of one of my favourite comedians. Though I'm sure Mitchell himself would probably be hugely sceptical of any claim that his commentary was 'fun' which is probably why his humour works. It's the right mix of readily self-deprecating but also stubbornly confident that just strikes a sympathetic chord with me.
Trust David Mitchell to write well. So many articles in short succession starts to get repetitive, but still enjoyable.

I spent a long time trying to get through this because I love David Mitchell but I just can't. A collection of his work from the Guardian the majority of the articles are extremely outdated now and just not a pleasure to read. His negativity and wit address wonderful most times but 300+ pages of outdated rants is tiresome.
