This was my first Stephen King book, and it made me a lifetime fan. This book was so suspenseful that I was glued to it. I started reading it in study hall during my senior year and study hall quickly became “Misery” time. I LOVE this book. The antagonist is so twisted, this book will have you cringing in your seat. And the protagonist will have your heart racing and yelling “GO GO GO!”

Undeniably a cornerstone of King's work. With only two characters present for the bulk of the novel, Misery balances plot advancement with the internal workings of Paul Sheldon, who is another example of an imperfect but well-developed character which King excels at portraying.

This was my first Stephen King novel (although I have seen some other movie adaptations) and… wow. Very well written. As hard as is it to listen to in some parts, it is definitely worth the read (or listen) and did not disappoint. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the horror genre.
