A fine ending for a wonderful career. This book was not up to Pratchett's usual standards, which is quite understandable given the circumstances.

But instead, this story was a coda, an unexpected encore at the end of the rich, lovely, exuberant saga of the Discworld.
I don't want to give any spoilers at all. I'll just say I laughed, and I cried, and I was delighted to get to see just a little bit further down the road that Tiffany Aching is walking, before her path bends out of my sight.

A wonderful ending to a wonderful series and some fine last words from a wonderful mind. I put off finishing Discworld for as long as possible, and it was worth the wait for the emotional toll that came with it. Even the dedication page got me going, for crying out loud! How do you review the final novel of a master except for to say thank you for the endless hours of vast entertainment that never got boring and never disappointed.
I will admit it, I cried while reading this book. A wonderful ending to my favorite series and a fitting last book for the author. RIP Sir Terry

I'm ashamed I put this off for so long. I was disappointed by the last Tiffany Aching book, and I got this one from my mum when it first came out (I wouldn't normally buy a hardback otherwise, they take up too much space!). But it turns out to be the perfect, fitting end for the Discworld series. It starts with , at which point I think I shouted aloud in shock, and it's followed by . No prizes for guessing the outcome, there's narrativium at stake after all.
It's Pratchett on form again - unfortunately, the dementia that he'd had for the last few years of his life had made his last few books less coherent, in my opinion, but this one is pretty tightly plotted.
Couple of problems - mostly when he tries to write Scottish dialect, which comes out unnaturally sometimes. (I've never heard "didnae I?" as a tag question in Scotland, for example.) And as a couple of other reviewers have noted, despite what I said in the last paragraph, some parts are hastily written or clumsily linked. I think it was cobbled together after his death, to some extent.
But I finished this in two days flat. It was exactly the send-off that the series and the author needed.

A fitting ending for the Discworld series. We may never know all of what happened to our favorite characters, but this book gives us the sense that for once, everything ends happily ever after.
I hadn't really expected a certain character to die in the series, so the beginning of the book caught be by surprise. I am glad though, that if it had to happen, it happened at the beginning of the book. I liked the implication that life would go on, albeit differently.
