I have been saying for over a year that people have more time than they think, we just waste it on garbage. Last November I wrote down every hour of my day, scheduling and reserving every hour shows just how much time we waste by not having a plan for the day.
I disagree with the point that working for somebodies else idea or vision is a bad thing.
Working and helping somebody doesn't mean you are wasting your time, not everybody can do their own thing or do something great. 9 to 5 can be a good way to achieve the things you want outside of work.

I re-read this each year around my birthday. Some are parts to laugh at, for sure, but overall there is some beautiful thought here. I struggle with my Benjamin Franklin beliefs; I grew up learning that any time I wasn't being productive I was wasting time. Seneca tells the opposite; any time you are toiling for something you don't need you are wasting time. I want to believe that relaxation is the purest form of living, but it is difficult. An annual reminder from this short tome is helpful.

È vero che bisogna vivere a livello qualitativo, valorizzare ogni momento per trarne qualcosa da questo tempo. Pensare a se stessi. Non perdersi nell’altro, non perdersi nell’esterno. Ma non penso di essere abbastanza stoica per questo, per ciò che intende lui. Potrei essere più epicurea.
Je l'ai lu en francais, et honnetement, ca m'a bcp plu. J'ai aimé la facon que c'était écrit, et les idées étaient intéressantes. Ca m'a même motivée à ne pas gaspiller mon temps en lamentant le passé, de profiter de chaque jour.
