So happy to get back into the world of Charley Davidson. This book focuses on Garrett and looking out for Beep. Loved it!!

I love this series. Charlie Davidson is one of my all time fav characters. But this book was a giant mess. All over the place. The characters were acting strangely. This whole thing with Beep was too weird. Swing and a miss for me.

Welp, this was a bit of a disappointment. I was really excited to see tiny Beep (Elwyn) interacting with the rest of the team, particularly Garrett. unfortunately, this took a much-unexpected turn, that I definitely didn’t like in regards to Elwyn’s growing up. I loved everything we were told about her, but what we saw just wasn’t what I wanted.

As for Garrett getting his happy ever after... so overdramatized. I honestly felt that we didn’t need Marika’s perspective and while I thought they were cute, the reveal of their past problems seemed so contrived. Garrett’s backstory also felt incredibly overdone. Then Marika’s final secret of why they couldn’t be together was just too freaking much, only to be canceled out.

LOVED Garrett’s story and the appearances of the rest of the cast of characters. Beep of course features prominently (loved the surprise with her) as well as Cookie, Robert, Artemis and the rest of the same crew. This gave a lot more back story for Garrett with multiple surprises along the way.

This was a great visit back with all of the characters. I WANT MORE! Unfortunately I have to wait for Amber and Quentins book next year. So I’ll have to re-read this series again!

Series: Charley Davidson #13.5
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

It's been five years since Charley and Reyes sacrificed themselves for their daughter. Garret Swopes is determined to keep their daughter safe but when she vanishes, he turns to the one woman who might be able to help him, Marika Dubois.

This was a wonderful jump back into the Charley Davidson world. We finally got a book focused only on Garrett Swopes! I am so glad we are finally getting the full story of what happened between Marika and Garrett. They finally talk it out and put the past behind them. Also I liked Marika a lot more than I thought.

This book also focuses on Elwyn, aka Beep. I knew she was going to be a fascinating kid with Charley and Reyes as parents but I didn’t expect how powerful she would become. I really can’t wait to see her grow and what new abilities she will have next.

While this is a short novella, I think it did a great job at jumping back into this world. But, if you have not read the rest of the series you will most likely be lost so I suggest starting with the first book. Overall, I enjoyed having a story from Garrett and Marika’s perspectives. I am really looking forward to reading the next novella now because I just loved Elwyn so much.

Catching up with friends

I’ve really missed Charley, Reyes and the gang since the series wrapped up. So it was great to read Garrett’s story. I love how much he loves Elwyn ( Charley & Reyes’s daughter) and I was glad he got a happy ending. He was in dire need of one. Of course the gang was all here, which made me so happy. I honestly cannot wait until Elwyn’s and Osh’s story finally happens. Poor Osh.

Beep grew up

Beep decides to go looking for Osh. Things get harsh when the crew try to find her. Garrett is about to lose his mind because they have no clue to where she went. Darynda Jones has expanded her Charlie Davidson world so that we can see a little of what happens next.

My thoughts: I very much enjoyed this novella becuase I love the Charley Davidson world but I am a bit salty that book #13 left things so in the air that Darynda Jones is progress the main storyline in novella form instead of a full length book wrapping everything up.
