This book was just amazing from the get go, it just kept you hooked from the first page to the last it was action packed, filled with a lot of drama the writing of this book is descriptive in all the right ways, and ripe with world-building. The characters are lively, snarky, stubborn, captivating, infuriating, and very lovable characters you just root for
Deya is an extremely talented healer who finds her whole life turned absolutely upside down when she overhears a secret which threatens the realm of Praiton. She finds herself banding together with a group of rebels to escape their fate.
This book focuses on Deya’s healing journey as she deals with the aftermath of being thrown into prison and abused. She is such a strong character and it was refreshing to read a book where the author allowed their main character to struggle with their grief. This just made Deya’s growth even more impactful because she fought through so much trauma.
We are also introduced to a loveable group of characters who help Deya on her journey. I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers relationship between Deya and Caelum. The tension between the two of them was palpable and really pushed Caelum to question his views. It was great to have an MMC that really showed character development through this book and not just an instant change of heart.
This book was such a great set up for the next books. I cannot wait to read more in this series!
If you love enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and found family you will definitely love this book!

I read this one for the vibes and I can't say I was disappointed. Out the gate I knew this would be up my ally from the 'views inside the prison' narrative and the 'discovering my power' theme.
The brief point of views shifts kept me involved and were smartly distributed. Overall, there was a great little mix of all my favorite feels. Enemies to lovers, f*ck it moments, characters I was rooting for and interested to see grow and develop. Safe to say I'm looking forward to where this series goes!

This book just hits for me. Has some of my favorite fantasy tropes and plots. It’s an easy read, but I LOVED it. It’s not like anything thatttttt different or high fantasy but I. Ate. It. Up. And either way the world building, political problems, characters were so developed, thought out and so fun and interesting to read!!
This is true enemies to lovers. And again this was just a fantasy book that had all the things you know will make it good, and it’s easy, a good breather in between high fantasy heavy hitters. 10/10, read this book!!!

I realized about halfway through that I don't care what happens to Caelum or Deya. I was rooting for her and Oswalld.
The 3 minutes of "fuck me" eyes in The Lion King was more romantic than them. 2.75/5, I do care about Val and Rayner.
