My 12th my anticipated read of the year. I loved Smith and Emilia, literally been waiting for them since like forever. This was such a short, simple, sweet, steamy read. I loved everything. I loved them and their relationship and I loved the teams found family trope.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Things I liked:
- “Because despite all the reasons I shouldn’t, I still want her.”
- “He’s always scowling at everyone.” “Except you.”
- Smith saying he’ll do the player profile as long as it’s Emilia doing it
- “Screw it.” Then his mouth is on mine”
- “It’s cute. She’s cute.”
- “but there’s something about her that makes me want to know everything she has to tell me.”
- Smith being jealous of Dom the security guard who gave Emilia a jacket while she was taking pictures
- “Even though I shouldn’t, I love seeing him so riled up over me.”
- “I’m pissed because I let myself get upset about Emilia wearing somebody else’s jacket.”
- “Because I can’t forget you, Emilia. No matter how hard I try…I can’t.”
- Hollis’ mom thinking Smith was Emilia’s boyfriend at Christmas
- “Reminding you who you belong to.” Then I crush my mouth to hers.”
- “Hanging above the fireplace isn’t a TV like you’d normally see in someone’s house. No. It’s our puzzle.”
- “I step into her, tucking a knuckle under her chin and tipping her head up until her eyes meet mine.”
- “I want her laughs. I want her smiles. I want her. Need her. Crave her.”
- Their texts to each other are hilarious
- “Boys in books are just better,” I say.”
- Scout and Macie’s friendship (the daughter of the donut shop), love how they send each other notes
- “Good. Then it’s settled: you don’t care that I’m a young spring chicken, and I don’t care that you groan every time you stand.”
- “Especially not admitting that maybe—just maybe—I’m steadily falling for Emilia.”
- “and going so many days without seeing Smith feels wrong. I miss him.”
- “I miss everything about her, and I have no fucking clue if I’ll ever stop.”
- “I know I’m in love with her. That’s not that difficult to figure out, not with the way she makes me feel.”
- “His eyes drift just to the right and away from the camera. God, I couldn’t see it then, but I do now. The look he gives me is…”
- “Because I miss him. Because I think I might love him.”
- “I retired from the NHL for you, and I love you and shit.”
- “Smith is there to catch me before I can fall. “Thank fuck,” he mutters, wrapping me in his arms and crushing his mouth to mine.”
- “Because I choose you.”
- “Like really, really love you. I have for a while, I think. Hell, maybe I even fell that first weekend.”
- “I love you,” he whispers against my lips “And I love you more…Owen.”
- Smith being an assistant video coach for the Comets, love that (reminds me of Jason Speeza)
- The groups retirement party for Smith
- “While I might love the game of hockey and you guys too, there’s someone else I love more. And I’d choose her every time.”
- “I kiss the tip of her nose. “Well, I love you.” She sighs, falling against me. “And I love you, Owen.” And I know at this moment that I’ll choose her for the rest of my life.”

Teagan Hunter never fails. Smith and Emilia's chemistry is palpable and the praise kink is 👌🔥
Also cannot wait for Miller's story!
Also cannot wait for Miller's story!
I enjoy all of the stories this author writes. I'm not sure if it is because it's 200F outside and the inside of a hockey rink sounds incredible, if her writing is more succinct, or if there are other factors at play, but this is my favorite series and I do believe this is my favorite book in the series.
I'm not a huge hockey fan IRL, but I have found myself going down the rabbit hole of what hockey players look like without helmets. Egads.
This well written, purposefully driven, one sitting read held my attention from beginning to end.
I absolutely recommend this series, this book, and this author.

Two and half years ago, Emilia needed to start over so her uncle got her a job in the marketing department of the Carolina Comets. When she was out celebrating her new move and her new job she ran into Smith. Emilia and Smith shared an amazing weekend together and walked away from each other. Until they ran into each other at work but since there is a strict don't date the players Emilia and Smith agree to pretend nothing happened and ignore each other at all costs. Until Emilia is forced to spend all her time with Smith for a player profile so she can get the promotion she has been dreaming of.
A little age gap forbidden romance - sign me right up. I had so much fun with this book. Emilia and Smith had all the fun banter that we have come to love from Hunter. But their chemistry was off the charts and I am pretty sure this was the steamiest book by Hunter. These two were fire. And the bond and relationships between the players is top notch. Loving the Comets and this series. **4.5 Stars**

Dual POV
Emilia & Smith (Owen)
Hockey romance
Age gap (10yrs)
Forbidden (workplace)
I’m such a sucker for hockey romances. Smith is a total grump, except when it comes to Emilia. He’s the oldest guy on the team, and plays that role well. He knows his time in the NHL is ending soon, but he’s just not ready to let it go.
Emilia has been working hard as a social media manager cresting content and new ideas for the franchise. She’s finally up for the big promotion, her dream job, director.
What do you do when your company creates a NO fraternization policy with team players and staff?? Certainly not sign up to do a months long player profile with your one weekend stand from 2 years ago!!
I really liked how the story starts by Jumping from current day, and 2.5yrs prior when they met & spent the weekend together. This broke up the current day story building with some good old fashioned spice! But this isn’t the only spice of the book!!
I really liked Emilia and Smith as a couple. I found myself chuckling at their text conversations. I really love how Emilia was strong and chased after her dream and doesn’t let a guy hold her back.
The spice in this book was pretty good, we all love a guy who uses the phrase “good girl” I’d give it 3.5

Oh wow, the angst and yearning in this book was just spectacular. You could feel how badly Smith and Emilia wanted each other in every scene they were in. Teagan Hunter did an amazing job writing their strong chemistry into every single scene.
My favorite part was the texting conversations between Smith and Emilia. The conversation felt so real but had all the fun problems that come with texting as well!
Emilia and Smith have so much going for them, but with a company wide ban preventing employees from sleeping together it makes their future uncertain and rocky. It was fun reading how it all played out in the end and it had me hooked!
Miller was absolutely hilarious and I cannot wait for his story. The running plot line of the team making fun of him adds a great fun storyline and adds so many laugh out loud moments.
