Not as strong as the 1st book in the series but it’s not bad. Not sure why the doctor said ‘skull instead of ‘mind’, but that’s just me. 12 fans would like it I guess.

The Decades Collection is six novellas each set in a decade of Doctor Who's run.

London, 1978. We're introduced to Seema Ahlumalia, who along with two friends, is menaced by three National Front members. After escaping, they meet a mysterious man called the Doctor, board a magical space bus, and confront their traumas.

There are some interesting things here. The early parts and the characters are good. And there's a fun bit where the Doctor (here, Peter Capaldi's Thirteenth Doctor) is given an unasked for make-over. But once the space bus appears, its mostly Doctor Who-by-numbers.

I am 100% convinced Seema is autistic. I dont actually know anything about the Southall Riots, but ill be reading up on it now.

The plot itself finishes of really warm-hearted and once again i got a bit emotional. (I almost never get emotional during reading) If you have access to all 6 of the Decades Collection, i am begging you to read it.

This was a delight.  It really felt like reading a one-off episode that would click perfectly into series 8 or 9.
