just finished my re-read and changed my three star review to five stars!! such beautiful, observant writing. and i love the way she writes characters and relationships — there are six main characters here and each holds a unique and connected weight, so when one moves, they all move (in different ways). she’s honestly brilliant for that. also, knowing how the series ends, i loved to watch these characters meet for the first time. they’re about to be so intertwined and they don’t even know…., so fun. 10/10. i think my review was lower the first time around because i didn’t fully understand what was going on (maybe my reading comprehension is better now, or maybe the context of the rest of the series helps)

I heard mixed reviews about this book. And I some spoilers made me think I wasn’t going to like the story. But I actually enjoyed it. It is the first book I read from Olivie Blake, and I like the way she writes. She got a way to make you enthralled by the story. I was so glad to have a full day in train to read this book, because I would not have been able to put it down otherwise. Here is where I agree with the reviews though, the plot twists might happen a bit late, and the characters seems to accept the plot twist pretty fast. I hope we are going to hear more about it in the next book. I ended this book with a lot of questions and theories about the next book, and I think that is what a book series should do; make you want the next one. Overall, I liked the characters, or no… I liked the way they were not ‘flat’. They had flaws, and thoughts and personalities. And I cannot wait to read the next book to meet them again.

one of the most inconsistent and incoherent books i’ve ever read. i’m fully convinced booktok will hype anything up as long as it has Vibes bc what else can explain this book going viral?
