There were some good bits and laughs, but ultimately SO bloated with teen bad decisions.

I just couldn't get into this story no matter how far I got. I kept reading because of the Rainbow Rowell blurb on the cover, but it never got better. The story was thin and all over the place and the switching perspectives were undistinguishable. The premise was promising at first, but I didn't care for the characters and ultimately forgot I was reading it because it was so unmemorable.

Finished this book with tissues in hand and a heart full of hope. I’m in awe of Zentner’s writing. He did an incredible job of getting into the voice of teenage girls. Very authentic writing!

One of the best books (if not THE best book) I've read so far this year. It was absolutely hilarious and heartwrenching. It was so freaking relatable and so heartwarming and nice, it's just a great book. Plus Jeff kept referring back to the jokes he'd made throughout, and it was just a grand ol' time. I insist that you read this! It's a must!

Took me a while to get into this one but by the end I was bawling in true Zentner fashion. Great story of friendship and growing up and realizing the family you make is sometimes more important than the family you were born with.

Jeff Zentner does a great job of writing modern Southern young adults, and this book is no exception. While these are teenagers, bringing with them a certain level of self-absorption and whininess, they are also teenagers, bringing their hearts and dreams as they look toward the future, fearing its changes and chasing its possibilities. These characters felt real, with real-life problems that they tackled. I rarely cry at books, but this one got me. There were also numerous places where I laughed out loud. This was a road trip audiobook for me, and it fit the bill perfectly.
