I actually really enjoyed this one. Slow start, but the MCs are charming and it gave me that clipped enemies to lovers growth I always crave. They're no Cardan and Jude, but damn did it hit the spot I've been missing since finishing Cruel Prince.

It wasn’t good or bad, just boring which sounds like the harshest critique you can give a book but I simply think it is marketed to the wrong audience. The dedication says “for those who need a break and a second glass of wine” but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone old enough to drink alcohol.

This one’s gonna be quick. I truly believe I just got bored. It was not interesting enough to keep me. And had like less than 50 pages left too so not a great look

I’m starting to realize that shorter fantasy books just are not for me. I feel like you can’t jam world building, a unique magic system, plot, character growth AND a convincing romance in 300 pages. At least one ends up lacking- in this case it’s the plot and romance. I thought the world was cool, I wish it dived in a little more, but it was interesting enough (same with the magic system).
-The characters were just ok in my opinion, but they were written well. They were just... boring. I wish they showed Luella practicing her magic more. She went from not knowing anything to saying she was stronger, but we never saw the progression. I also wish literally any type of unique personality was written for any of them.
-The beginning was amazing, but after she arrives in the magical world the plot just stopped! I was hoping for intrigue and battles, the Elf king to be just a dark badass... but if I had to tell you point by point what happens in this book, there’s a beginning and then an end. The whole middle 200 pages don’t have much going on.
-The romance is labeled as a slow burn, but how can it be a slow burn if they’re together within 100 pages. If anything, it was an insta hate to love. I also was recommended this one for the smut but I’m not impressed. The sex scenes are vague and felt very YA (but that’s a personal opinion).
