Oh dear. What happened. If this is how you're going to discuss the gender binary i really really really recommend just not. Also the use of the Russian irritated me more and more as we went on, if you can't bring yourself to do it well, at least be consistent. Also noone ever claimed Eve was likable in the books but GOD in this one she's impressively whingy. Pro points for making me think of Jodie comer, lesbian sex, and for being easy to binge read.

The shift to first person in this book was a little jarring, but I got used to it. That said, I do think this book would have benefited from the multiple view points the previous two had. I like that we got to see what Eve and Villianelle's relationship would look like, which is to say it's not all sunshine and roses. The attempt at writing a non-binary character was a blunder but it felt like a well intentioned blunder.

And it must be said: this has a much better ending than the show. Though, admittedly, that's a low bar to step over.

High literature this is not. But there is something I enjoyed about this series because I read them all.

I don't usually write reviews but I need to make sure I never read this again. While the first two books were okay, there wasn't a thing I enjoyed about this book. And as a non binary person, I really hated how Charlie was written and described. The best thing I can say is that the author did an okay job at using Charlie's name and pronouns when they weren't being dead named and misgendered by pretty much every character except Eve. Other than that, I didn't like how Eve or Villanelle were written and the plot just fell really flat for me.

After reading this, season 4 of Killing Eve doesn’t seem so bad anymore.
adventurous hopeful medium-paced

These books are ridiculous and I LOVE them

can we talk about the random nonbinary side character because what the fuck was that
