Exceedingly difficult to read, and at the same time incredibly insightful. Journalism at it’s finest, shedding unexpected light on a heart rending moment in history.

A good, exhaustive primer on what happened at Columbine. Interesting if you know next to nothing about the tragedy. Some parts were interesting to read and went by quickly but others were quite exhaustive and as a consequence, exhausting to read. The writing style isn’t dense but the subject matter is heavy, so it took me a bit longer than expected to get through.

the structure of this book is a little all over the place which slightly resembles media chaos. it would mention a person and then leave you wondering what happened to them. I'm glad this focuses on the victims, the problems with the media, the aftermath as well as the killers. it does a good job debunking the "outcast loner" myth that the media played

Just an excellent piece of investigative journalism. Cullen presents the most accurate and detailed account of the shooting itself as well as the days leading up to it and the harrowing, ongoing aftermath. Debunking myths about bullying and God and jocks that dominated the media narrative, the book is more interested in truth than sentimentality. It's nevertheless deeply sad. Don't read it before bed unless you want to dream about psychopaths!

Upon further reading this is the one people say not to read because there is a lot of misinformation in it. Just google it, youll find the articles. There is definitely a lot of diagnosing and speculation on mental health, seems pretty obvious that a journalist can't diagnose someone.

It took me longer than usual to read this book because I NEEDED to take breaks every now and again. I’ve read plenty of gruesome fiction as well as countless true crime, but something about this book affected me more than almost anything else I’ve read so far. Maybe it’s how devastatingly relevant it still is nowadays, over two decades after the original event. Overall, however, it’s an extremely well-written and effective book. I do highly recommend it, but not without warning.
