okay i liked the story well enough, and i really appreciated the diversity of our four main characters BUT:

the digital copy i read could have done w another round of editing. all of the mistakes were easy enough to fill in (missing words, mostly), but they also should have been caught before publishing. the book also could have been shorter; there are long periods of inaction and internal struggle and heavy handed exposition that all could have been condensed. also
the villains have literally no explanation? nor odilia, and reyna doesn’t really get a full explanation either? the teachers and odilia get half assed reveals with no depth or meaning to them; at least reyna’s story has understandable emotion behind it.

all that said, it’s not a bad book. i liked all of the girls and their individual struggles, i LOVED ella & yuki’s relationship, and yuki & reyna, and the fairy tale parallels are fun.

Honestly, I loved this book, but I cared about the characters so much that I got stressed out for them 😭 I need to go read something that requires absolutely no brain power after this because it drew up all my emotions, put them through a storm, and now they’re out to dry.

wooooow, I LOVED the first one and this one DNFed. I don’t understand what makes these characters tick in this book? and the alternating POV just makes it worse. booooo.
