Interesting. One which is better to keep always going back to instead of reading straight through as it gets a bit tedious.

Having enjoyed Baggini's other book, [book:The Pig That Wants to Be Eaten: 100 Experiments for the Armchair Philosopher|282758], I went on to buy both this and [book:Do They Think You're Stupid?: 100 Ways Of Spotting Spin And Nonsense From The Media, Celebrities And Politicians|6531315].

The sequence in which I read the books coincide nicely with how I'd rank these books.

This one, in particular, was relatively underwhelming. The main issue was that I don't know all these 100 sayings. The book pretty much assumes you do.

When I did know and understand the saying, both its meaning and origin, I could better grasp his analysis and discussion.
When I didn't, I felt like I was reading through the 2 - 3 pages simply just so I don't miss anything.
And that was pretty frustrating - to understand the words, but not the meaning. To know it's not entirely your fault, and still push yourself to finish the segment.

While that sense of loss, frustration and mild confusion didn't happen all that often, it did detract from the reading experience.
