If you are interested in health and fitness, this is a must read book. Rather than prescribe a set diet or fitness regimen, Lieberman explains why people, in general, are not healthy in the perspective of human evolution, both physical and cultural.
I learned a ton from this book, but also knew a lot from previous reading and research. I now have more knowledge to apply to my daily life.
Highly recommended.

Fascinating look at how we evolved and how that continue to today. Lieberman looks at how often we currently are mismatched in terms of how we evolved and the environment we face today.
An engaging book that covers many different aspects of the evolution and future of the human body. One of the key themes is that humans are in an age of lower mortality but higher morbidity. By looking at the history of the human body the author helps put our current diseases of affluence and what he calls dysevolutionary diseases into perspective. Humans have ceased to be governed by natural selection and instead we have replaced it with cultural evolution which occurs much faster and has allowed many mutations and non reproductive illnesses, to survive that otherwise might not have under natural selection. Because these changes have happened within a few generations the human body is ill suited and we are our own worse enemy. I found his writing style to be fairly repetitive but otherwise recommend the book as it does a wonderful job of covering the history of the human body.
Repetitive and slow. Content is still good toward the second half, but pace is slow and padding obvious.
Interesting and well-researched topic, but the author is very repetitive in driving home the points he wants to make.
This book greatly illuminates how the majority of our current illnesses are the result of a mismatch between our bodies and the current environment, that is very different from the world in which the human being evolved for millions of years.
Lots of interesting information and an enjoyable read. Starts to repeat himself towards the end of the book - and it is easy to become numb to the warnings on health! I found the first half on human evolution much more interesting (but I think that maybe just reflects my personal interests).
