I really enjoy a good thriller series where I can just turn my brain off as I read, and so far this series has delivered. I appreciated that Isles was introduced in this one - I'm excited to see more of her and Rizzoli together down the road. This was a solid read that built on the story from the first book while still having some of its own plot. I am a bit confused about the first chapter of the book though. I get that it was for shock factor and seemed to be solved quickly but it felt so disconnected from the rest of the book that I just felt confused.

I would recommend this to any fan of "Criminal Minds"-type shows, but maybe not to people who are looking for something similar to the "Rizzoli & Isles" tv series.

This book showed us a much more likeable Jane, a more human and vulnerable Jane, which was a definite improvement for me. The case we followed was, although a continuation of the first (seemingly finished) story, definitely still unpredictable and thrilling.

However, I still think that having watched the tv show first (which is almost completely different from the book) has done a great disservice to my enjoyment of this book. I can't help myself from imagining the characters and their personalities exactly as they were shown in the tv series, so reading the characters as they appear in the written story makes me a little confused.

This is the first Tess Gerristen novel I have read. At first I found the book too morbid for my taste but them I got hooked into the plot.
