A seaside tourist town in winter where a local receptionist and French cartoonist take an interest in each other.

Quiet and contemplative, it’s melancholic and filled with themes of loneliness and wanting to be seen.
Mostly wintry tones and vibes but it was easy to read and softly pleasant.

The question is:
How does one even review one of their new favourite books of all time?
In this masterpiece of a story, Elisa Shua Dusapin made me feel seen as an estranged woman of 25, with her depiction of a character living somewhere she doesn't belong but who still can't take root anywhere else. Someone deeply moved by her environnement and the lack of changes but who is also completely overwhelmed when something changes.
The writing is everything I love about when I read in French. The only downside to this book is the terrible French cover.

For lovers of Sally Rooney and cozy, sad, weirdly nostalgic stories.

This is normally not my vibe, but this was a pleasant little read. it managed to discuss a lot of touchy subjects in a short amount of time and invoked a lot of self-reflection.
